Since almost all internet connections are over HTTPS, so yes you would be without this function for all other internet connections you make and any third party links from those sites.

This doesnt make sense.
mine is ticked and like David i have no issues with youtube using firefox.
Yes it may be a workaround but theres got to be something else not connected to avast otherwise i would of thought we would see thosands of posts all over the internet about this issue.
could it be windows, or add blocker, or vpn or something else.
the only difference ive seen in the last week is youtube forcing the adds again overiding the add blocker but its only for around 10 seconds then the skip button shows. this is normally on the first video watched then free loading without adds.
That definitely solved the problem. May not be safe, but I was so frustrated at this point I donāt care. I donāt have a VPN or adblocker, btw.

To the people having issues with Youtube, etc.: Are you using Premium or Free? Are you using the Firewall?

No youtube,facebook,email issues. premium with avast firewall and nord vpn.
all default settings except for adverts unticked in avast ui..

Iām having loading problems with chrome and firefox, even for me by disabling https protection it works again.

I am using Avast Premium with Avast Firewall turned on. I just turned off the firewall and turned HTTPS Scanning back on to see if that was the problem and the problem returned. It definitely seems to be an issue with the Web Shield.

Iāve been having the same issue. Thumbnails on Youtube wonāt load and videos will barely load @144p (any higher resolution wonāt load). Every browser is affected. On my end, I tried disabling Firewall, Web Shield, Network Scanning, adding exceptions to Youtube, none of these worked, the only workaround was to fully deactivate Avast. So, on my end, I canāt pinpoint the culprit module, but I know itās Avast. Iām running on latest version of Avast Premium.
EDIT: Forgot to say, but no VPN nor adblocker here.

I donāt know about Avast doing updates affecting useage, but the app plays for maybe 5 minutes and shuts down every time since I installed Avast + VPN
Same problem here.
same problems on 25.3.x free, today I decided to try installing the 25.4.x beta free version, the problem is still not solved.
I have 2 pcs win 11 (same versions, same updates) with avast premium (no vpn, same versions).
The problem occurs in only one of them.
I disabled Avast for 10 minutes and updated Chrome (135.0.7049.115 (Official build) 64-bit).
Enabled Avast.
Itās working so far.
Thanks for reporting what helped you, I just wonder if others still having this issue are using Chrome browser or chromium based browsers.
Firefox isnāt chromium based, so that could have something to do with why Iām not impacted.
Ahh damn, I thought the Chrome update may have been the answer so did that last night.
Just trying YouTube with full shields this morning though, and the video stalls after a couple of seconds. Once again, it works fine if I disable the Web Shield or more specifically, the āenable HTTPS scanningā option within the Web Shield settings.
Starting to get a little miffed to be honest, Iām paying for a premium product that I canāt utilise without losing functionality.
I should have mentioned in my post above that I was using Firefox / LibreWolf, not a Chomium based browser, with no ill effects.
I had not updated firefox and chrome, now I am on the latest version of chrome and firefox, but the problem at least in my case continues to exist, the only method is always to disable webshield, or disable the check on https scan.
Currently I am on:
Avast free beta 25.4.x
Windows 10 Last update
Firefox Last update
Chrome Last update
No vpn
As always, I tried to disable all the related extensions and delete the cookies
It stopped working againā¦
