I re-installed the Avast Secure Browser however I still receive the pop-up in the upper right-hand corner stating it is UNABLE to update the browser. Any thoughts? Running WIN10 - 64 bit.
There is already a topic related to this (I canât find it right now) and by all accounts a restart resolves it.
OK Iâll keep at it - will probably uninstall and re-install again. That should do it!
Restarts donât always fix it. In some cases it seems to be permanently stuck broken.
If ânightbeatâ doesnât try it then he would never know.
That said the inconsistency could point to other issues.
The SECOND uninstall / reinstall seems to have worked (with restarts of the PC in between). Thanks for your replies / input - much appreciated!
I have had the same problem for a few days now. Lost all passwords in password manager and tearing my hair out.
No matter how many times I re-install and restart, it doesnât work.
Any ideas?
What worked for me is: uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot. You want to clear out all remnants of the browser and install clean. Avast has an uninstall tool on their website that may be helpful in performing a thorough uninstall. If all else fails then perhaps a chat with tech support can assist.
I unfortunately posted about this under Premium security bu this is the right place about this issue. I am not sure why Avast expects clients to go through a clean instal to resolve it. This has affected many people and so as you say, it should be upto Avast to resolve it. I appreciate what DavidR is saying but the solution does not seem to work for everyone.
Hi @David743 and all,
we deployed yesterday evening an emergency fix for an unexpected issue related to our updater. If youâre getting the âBrowser is outdatedâ notification bubble, please:
- restart the Browser
- go to the Settings menu, then About page
- Browser will start checking for an update & will download and install it
- Restart the browser
Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences caused and thank you for using our browser.
Sandu
Thanks for the reply to David743 - whilst it doesnât directly effect me, I donât know if it might have some unforeseen circumstances.
See https://community.avast.com/t/avast-browser-firefox-wont-work-with-password-manager/879168
For this user a password manager worked in both ASB and Firefox. Though I donât know which password manager was used. I have asked for more information in the topic.
Many thanks Sandhu. In fact I opened the browser today qithout any notification of the need to update so all well. For a time, I thought that the browser had been subject to an attack of some sort. Thanks also to DavidR for his comments
Youâre welcome, happy that it is resolved.
Hello, thank you for this information. I performed the update but now my Avast Secure Browser wonât accept the passwords from my Avast Premium Security Password Manager! It worked fine before the update. When I go into the Password Manager settings and enable the browser configuration for Avast Secure Browser, I receive the following error message:
An error occurred while processing your request.
Reference #30.e68dc17.1736007307.b90c8475
Yes - it is the same message I included before. When I go here and enable the Avast browser by clicking Add Extension:
I receive the following:
Hi @Stephanie67,
this looks like an issue caused on the Avast Premium Security side, could you please report it here: Avast Free Antivirus / Premium Security - Avast Community ?
Thank you
Sandu
