Unable to reactivate Avast Free antivirus

I am getting this same issue and have been trying to sort this for days

I have reinstalled avast but still getting the same loop of just being forced to subscribe to my loyalty…my loyalty is waining!

I’m on Win11 and my free subscription has expired so it’s not a case of just waiting now.

Are there any AVAST employees that can help? At this point i’ll happily pay to use a different software, what utter crap that you don’t have a button to ignore the offer.

Same issue here, latest Avast free version, Win11. I cant prolong my free license, always get message as others above with loyalty discount which i cant click away and if i cancel process must be repeated and licence is not renewed.

What the hell is this seriously? I have 5 days then i am no longer protected and must find different AV.

Any help support?

Similar issue reported on Japanese section too.

Another one here (Germany):

Uninstalling and Reinstalling doesn’t fix this.

I’m also having the same issue; running version 25.8.10387g (build 25.8.10387.0).

Any fix on the way to this Avast? Just keep your awesome offers and let us update free version ok? Or inform people that is no longer possible to use Avast Free…..

Same problem here, 3 days running now with the same enless loop and no way to get it reactivated.

Have you all used the uninstall tool (in safe mode) and checked that there are no more “avast” folders on your devices?

Otherwise, I don’t see why you would get a message saying “your free avast license has expired” since there should be no trace of a previous installation left.

If you still have it despite this, it means that the tool does not have the desired function for some reason.

When I had to uninstall avast, I used “RevoUninstaller” in advanced mode, which also removes traces from the registry and folders.

To be on the safe side, I then run the tool in safe mode.

I also ended up in the “NOT ACTIVATING” circle on Windows 11, just like user3153, always only the “buy” option (One-time offer - we appreciate your loyalty), which has no other option than “BUY” or close with a cross, uninstalling in safe mode, deleting all (even hidden) Avast folders in the system did not help. After a clean installation from the online installer “online_installation_file_aplikace_avast_free_antivirus.exe” I was again in the circle of inability to activate avast free. In addition, I noticed that Avast is reported as “AVAST PREMIUM” in the installed programs. I think Avast “corrupted” the new Avast free installer.
I uninstalled again via safe mode with the “avast_av_clear.exe” utility and deleted all (even hidden) Avast remnants in normal mode. And finally I installed the offline installation. AND HURRAY, Avast FREE was activated. This procedure (including links) was suggested by “DavidR” Leader under the query “rocksteady”. THANK YOU DavidR, Thank you very much! ! !

I always save one or two older offline installers for fallback purposes. If latest update is bad, it is then possible to uninstall and then install the previous version.

I wonder if @111jiri.kubala solution now helps others stuck in the reactivation failure loop.

Indeed, it is important not to rush things. DavidR clearly stated to reinstall using the “offline” version…

…which (based on experience) resolves a large number of issues.

Thanks for the help. I used av_clear in safe mode and then used the offline setup. Now my program shows Free Antivirus in the menu. Never ran into that before. Many thanks for adding the links to both programs!

You’re welcome - though this issue needs to be cleared up by Avast, it shouldn’t be this hard to renew. I guess you give up trying and try the paid option. However, some would just look at other AV options.

Same problem here, for about 5 days. Tried uninstall/reinstall. However I’m under the impression that this popup is just a dud. I think I’m still protected.

@Avast_Admin when are you going to fix this problem? I have been using your product for years and not had this issue before. I am now unable to reactivate because I can’t get past this screen.

If my loyalty was that important to you, I wouldn’t have this issue. Seriously considering going to an alternate AV provider if this is not fixed soon.

Hi,

Same trouble for me. I need to reactive my free key licence, and select the free version but impossible to do something because of this offer (in french). Reinstall do nothing more.

Well, the paid version is worthless to me. I’ve been working in IT for about 30 years, so I guess I know how to behave on the net. And I actually use Avast only to stop that “INTRUSIVE, CHEEKY, WINDOWS DEFENDER”. In those 30 years, I’ve only seen and stopped a virus once. And I brought it on a flash drive from the police (some autorun inf).
From Avast, I use: File Shield, Behavioral Shield, Ransomware Shield and Web Shield. That’s enough for me. And backups are a given.
I’ve been more bothered lately by how programmers’ work is being cut. Program tests…, testers…, that’s a lot of extra money, so the management of companies will eliminate it to a minimum and we can see the results in real time. And it doesn’t just apply to Avast.

How did you uninstall it?

Which file did you use to reinstall the free version of avast?

Did you read the instructions provided above by DavidR?

Yes, and it’s working only if i use the offline installer without any connection to my account
